EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTERS EMERGENCY BEACON LOCATORS aviall ability aviall.com 1242 EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTERS EMERGENCY BEACON LOCATORS Model EBC 502 emergency locator transmitter. FAA-TSO-C90a APPROVED; FCC TYPE ACCEPTED UNDER PART 87. Leading the market in value and technology. The EBC 502 is undoubtedly the finest value in an emergency locator transmitter (ELT) on the market today. It exceeds TSO-C91a standards, is FCC approved and satellite compatible. As with all EBC ELTs, the 502 transmits either automatically or manually on both civilian (121.5 MHz) and military (243.0 MHz) frequencies. It has a recessed 3-position toggle switch for automatic or manual operation and pre-flight testing. A built-in test circuit and lamp allows the pilot to visually assess ELT power output, modulation and battery strength. This fully portable unit requires no cabling or external antenna, making it less expensive and easy to install in cockpit or cabin. Built to ensure reliability under the harshest conditions, it is able to withstand 1000+ G's of shock, up to 24 hours complete submersion in salt water and will survive a flash fire of up to 1500 F for two minutes. New to the EBC line, the EBC 502 has been outfitted with an external monitor that emits a loud beeping tone upon activation of the unit. The monitor sits underneath the ELT in the mounting bracket and is connected via a DC power connector, eliminating the need for a wire harness. The monitor has its own battery so that it will not drain power from the ELT. In an actual emergency, it is quite reassuring to hear that your ELT has been activated. When circumstances go wrong, the EBC 502 is there every step of the way with leading edge design and technology that helps save lives. EBC engineers don't just consult with pilots, they are pilots and know first hand what you need in search and rescue support. The EBC 502H adapts all the ingenious charac- teristics of the EBC 502 to the special needs of helicopters. Designed to be mounted within reach of the pilot, co-pilot or crew, the EBC 502H meets the increased survivability needs of the helicopter environment. As with all EBC ELTs, its electronic and activation systems are completely encapsulated for increased protection against shock and moisture, and extra protection is provided for the crystal. Its true 360 spherical 6-axis G-switch design makes it specially equipped to tackle the problems unique to helicopter flight, for when a chopper goes down, it can go down in any number of directions, making the ordinary single axis G-switch inadequate. The EBC 502H has been engineered for helicopter operation by reducing sensitivity to low- frequency turbine and rotor input. Our design makes the ELT more immune to false activation yet retains high sensitivity to actual crash situation. True to the advances of the EBC 502 series, the EBC 502H also has been outfitted with an external aural monitor. The EBC 502HM is a modified version of the EBC 502H. This ELT has been enhanced to survive the special conditions faced by the military. The antenna has been "beefed up" for increased survivability. A shorting plug has been added to disable the automatic activation feature during maintenance. The ELT is painted with a flat black, non infrared reflective finish so that the unit is compatible with night vision equipment.
