Avox's one-, two-, three-, and four-person solid state generators are the ideal design concept for fixed passenger oxygen systems. They offer immediate oxygen availability without requiring high pressure oxygen storage. With the world's largest existing facility for chemical oxygen production, Avox has produced over 1,250,000 chemical oxygen generators. Avox's expertise has made these generators the recognized benchmark for quality and excellence in the aviation industry. These generators satisfy aircraft OEM flow and duration specifications according to a pre-determined cabin decompression schedule, as well as purity requirements. While providing optimum safety, reliability and economy, they afford significant weight reduction over gaseous fixed systems. Avox chemical oxygen generators were first used in the McDonnell Douglas and Lockheed wide bodies, and are also used today in Boeing, Douglas, Cessna, Piper, and Fokker selected models. The electrically actuated versions are standard equipment on all Lockheed L-1011 aircraft. These solid state generators are housed in metal containers with integral filters, insulation, and over-pressure relief. With a percussion actuated installation, the constant flow mask is pulled to the face (in the event of a decompression), causing the pin on the end of the lanyard to separate from the spring-actuated striker. When the striker contacts the percussion cap, enough heat is generated to initiate the thermal decomposition of the generator core, thereby producing oxygen. In the case of electrically actuated systems, a central control activates all generators in the aircraft when an aneroid senses decompression or a switch is operated. This controller also energizes the mask compartment door latches, thereby allowing the masks to drop within the passengers' reach. The outlets are compatible with 3 /32" I.D. vinyl mask hose and the manifolds are capable of a 360 swivel.
